MITCHELL – Pierre’s best volleyball start in five years continued Thursday as the Governors swept Mitchell on the road 25-15, 25-17, 25-22.
Pierre scored 17 of the last 24 points of the first set after it was tied at eight. A 10-point run early in the second set helped the Governors, who then held off a late Kernel rally. Pierre led 21-15 in the final set before Mitchell moved within two before the Governors held on.
Pierre scored 32 kills, led by Avyrie Kaiser with nine, including five in the third set. Reagan Wiebe had seven kills and Kenzie Gronlund registered five.
The Governors will next play on Saturday, September 12 in the home opener and Senior Day against Aberdeen Central at the Riggs High gym.
