A man from McLaughlin convicted of Assaulting, Resisting and Impeding a Federal Officer has been sentenced by a US District Court Judge.
Amos Talks, age 26, must serve 42 months in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release.
The conviction stemmed from an incident in June 2018, in McLaughlin, when law enforcement was called to a residence where Talks was highly-intoxicated. When law enforcement arrived, Talks refused to comply with law enforcement, resisted arrest and a physical altercation commenced, resulting in Talks kicking the officer in the thighs and groin, charging and hitting the officer and biting the officer’s hand, arm and knuckles.
Talks was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshals Service.
