HURON – Pierre Governor Gymnastics won its season-opening event Thursday, topping Huron in a road dual, 125.75 to 121.3.
Freshman Nevaeh Karber was the all-around winner, one-half point better than Cameron Ruth of Huron. Karber was first in uneven parallel bars, third in balance beam, tied for fifth in floor exercise and tied for 11th in vault.
Two eighth-graders, Emmy Loe and Ryen Sheppick, were third and fourth respectively in all-around. Marissa Mathews was sixth, Aubre Westover seventh, Isabel Jirsa ninth and Emerie Stephens 13th.

Isabel Jirsa: 9th all-around, T5th floor exercise, 9th uneven parallel bars, 12th balance beam, 15th vault
Emerie Stephens: 13th all-around, 5th vault, 12th floor exercise, T13th balance beam, 14th uneven parallel bars
The Governors will compete Saturday in the Lolly Forseth Invitational at Washington High School in Sioux Falls.
