BROOKINGS – Kiran Vugveteen and Savannah Barber each scored twice Saturday as the Brookings Rangers eased past the Oahe Capitals 7-2 in the Capital girls season opener at the Larson Ice Center.
Olivia Swenson gave the Capitals the early lead just over six minutes into the game, but the Rangers scored the next season, with Vugveteen scoring her goals in a four-goal second period that broke the game open after it was tied at 1-1 through 20 minutes.
Brookings outshot the Capitals 39-7. Abagail Stewart-Fromm made 32 saves in the Oahe net.
The Capitals will next play Sunday, December 13th at Huron.
