Growing up, I wanted to be a sports reporter. I had the amazing opportunity to do my internship at a news station in Omaha, Nebraska during the Olympic Swim Trials. That was the coolest experience of my life. I will never forget that. I’ve always enjoyed watching the Olympics on television. The Olympic Committee has added all kinds of new events and one in the swimming section of the games is causing lot of buzz. That’s the Mixed Medley Relay.
According to the Tokoy 2020 Olypic website, the Mixed Medley Relay is a team event. There are two men and two women per a team. They can chose which person will do a 100 meter leg of backstorke, butterfly, freestyle and breaststorke. The reason this is causing so many conversations is because a women and a man could be competing against each other at the same time if they are both doing the same leg of the race. This so awesome because we will get to see some mad skill from some very talented folks. I’m super excited to see this event in action because there are so many amazing athletes out there.
Here’s a TikTok video I came across explaining the event a little more. Let me know what you think of it!
