Radiation oncologist Dr. Daniel Tackett will join the Avera Cancer Institute team in Pierre this fall bringing Avera St. Mary’s one step closer to providing cancer care in central South Dakota.
Avera St. Mary’s Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mikel Holland says Tackett will contribute to the wide scope of cancer care services now available in Pierre.
He says Tackett will practice in the soon-to-open Helmsley Center.
Dr. Holland says currently, cancer patients in this region have to travel at least a few hours to get treatment.
Grant funding from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust helped fund construction of the Helmsley Center cancer treatment facility being built in Pierre.
