Pierre Governor girls soccer goalkeeper Jenna Gehring and boys striker Cole Peterson were named as the Pierre Athletic Coaches Association-Avera Athletes of the Week for the week ending August 21.
Gehring had 14 saves in a 1-0 home win over Sioux Falls Roosevelt on August 19.
Peterson scored six goals in his first three matches. Head Coach Miguel Manriquez said, “Cole has provided exceptional leadership and dedication to start the 2021 season.” Peterson is one of the Governors’ captains.
