The ACLU of South Dakota is holding informational events next week in Pierre.
The first is the ACLU’s Activist Academy. Attendees will:
- develop skills as advocates and activists at all levels
- learn about the legislative process
- learn how to influence elected officials
- find out how to be year-round advocates of issues you care about
The Activist Academy will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 6-8pm at the South Dakota Education Association’s auditorium (411 E. Capitol Ave.) in Pierre
The ACLU of South Dakota is also hosting a letter-writing session. Letters and e-mails sent directly to legislators are a very useful advocacy tactic and can be extremely effective in holding legislators accountable. The “Strongly Worded Letter Writing Party” will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 5:30-7:30pm at Prairie Pages Bookstore (321 S. Pierre St.) in Pierre.
