People wanting to find information about Pierre Public School happenings from past years can now access much of the information online and the district is hoping alumni can help fill in some gaps.
T.F. Riggs librarian Pam Kringel has digitized the district’s print collection of “Governor” newspapers and access is available directly from the Pierre School District Homepage, as well as in print form. Patrons will need to scroll to the bottom of the homepage to click on the “Governor Archive” link. From there, patrons can select a year to search.
Kringle says multiple issues of the “Governor” from the 1960s to the 2000s and select issues from the 1940s are available to be browsed. She says in an effort to have a more complete collection, anyone who has personal copies of issues not available on the school website is asked to share them with the school for digitization purposes. Papers would be returned to you after they have been digitized. The District is especially interested in Governor issues from the 1940s, 1950s and early 1960s.
If you have a paper to share, you can contact Pam Kringel, T.F. Riggs High School Librarian at pam.kringel@k12.sd.us or 605-773-7350 during school hours to make arrangements for getting your copy added to the digital collection.
