A bill to shorten the absentee voting period in South Dakota is awaiting a hearing in the House State Affairs Committee.
HB1178 would reduce the time frame during which people can early vote from six weeks to two weeks.District 24 representative Mary Duvall believes six weeks is too long.
District 24 representative Tim Rounds thinks a 30 day time frame for early voting should be enough time.
