South Dakota was recently named the “Most Promising Destination” in the United States by a Chinese tourism group.
State Department of Tourism deputy secretary Wanda Goodman says they’ve been working with Tourism Media Group, an official partner of the China Travel Service Association, for about seven years.
Goodman says the Chinese are the fastest growing group of visitors to the United States.
Goodman says Chinese travelers stay in the US longer and spend more money than other international visitors.
Goodman says Chinese visitors are typically interested in South Dakota’s monuments, memorials and Old West and Native American cultures.
