SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Pierre 18U Fastpitch squad placed second in the Rec division of the Denny Redmond Invitational over the weekend, going 4-1 in the five games played in Sioux Falls. Hot hitting propelled Pierre to a 3-0 mark through pool play on Saturday with wins over Dell Rapids Dairy Queen, Parkston and SF Purple Menace. Pierre then beat Parkston a second time, 2-1, in the semifinals on Sunday before Mitchell Venom won the championship, 9-4, after breaking a 4-4 tie with five runs in the fifth inning. Caitlin Reimers won three games from the mound and Carly Oakland handled the other. All ten players contributed to the offense over the weekend with Becca Norris and Mattie Jones providing some of the more timely run-scoring hits. Pierre is now 8-1 overall following their first tournament of the season and will play another tournament in Mitchell this weekend.
