PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors will meet Thursday in Pierre as there are number of cooperative request that the board will act on. One of them is for Estelline, South Dakota and Hendricks, Minnesota to coop in football, girls and boys basketball, volleyball, cross country and golf next year. And a coop request for Estelline and Hendricks with Russel-Tyler-Ruthtun of Minnesota in gymnastics. Summit, Waubay and Wilmot are requesting to coop in Track and Field and Wessington Springs, Woonsocket and Wolsey Wessington in wrestling. Marian, Menno and Freeman Academy want to coop in football next year and Sturgis High School wants to move the start of practice for the upcoming football season to July 30th due to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Class 11AA schools of which Sturgis is in that class normally would begin on August 9th for the other schools. The Board will also have a second reading on the proposed site venues for state events for the 2021 season. And the board will accept nominations for the soon to be vacated opening on the board for the Division II Athletic/Activities spot. The position is currently held by Steve Moore of Watertown who resigned last month to take the Athletic Directors position at Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Thursday’s meeting gets underway at 8:30 am at the SDHSAA office on North Euclid in Pierre.
