The Pierre City Commission is considering two ordinance changes.
Pierre city planner Sharon Pruess recommended a revision to the section of the landscaping ordinance requiring parking lots being repaved or resurfaced to meet certain specifications, including adding shade trees and or green space.
The second proposed ordinance change for Pierre would restrict the ability to construct a building on a lot that relied solely on crossing private property to reach a public right of way.
Pruess says the change would apply only to new construction and would not be retroactive.
A public hearing is scheduled for both ordinance changes at the June 19 City Commission Meeting. For full proposed ordinance language, visit the city of Pierre’s website.
