VERMILLION, S.D. — Pierre’s Peyton Zabel capped a week that saw him taken in the Major League Baseball Draft with MVP honors as he led the Blue team to a 27-6 victoryover the Red team in the South Dakota Football All-Star Game, held Saturday at the DakotaDome in Vermillion. Zabel, an Augustana University recruit for both football and baseball, was 10-18 passing for 257 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball twice for 21 yards. Zabel was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 19th round of the MLB Draft on Thursday. Madison’s Janke twins each went over 100 yards receiving, with Jadon catching four passes for 101 yards and two scores, and Jaxon making four catches for 103 and a score. Their teammate, Josh Giles, was 5-11 passing for 95 yards and a score. Braiden Petersen rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown as the Blue team rushed for 149 yards. This marked the second year that the football all-star game has been held in Vermillion.
