BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – The South Dakota High School Rodeo Finals wrapped up over the weekend in Belle Fourche. The top four placers in each event earn a spot at nationals. Chamberlain’s Kaler Kirkie qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo in bull riding. State Champions included: bareback riding, Alex Bergeson (Mitchell) in steer wrestling. Riggen Shippy (Colome); bull riding. Jose Alaniz Jr. (Faith); barrel racing, Wacey Brown (Sturgis); boys cutting, Jackson Grimes (Kadoka); pole bending, Sidni Ferguson (Dupree); reined cow horse, Natalie Leisinger (Highmore); saddle bronc, Cash Wilson (Wall); tie-down roping, Dillon Sackett (Alcester); team roping, Chance Derner (New Underwood) and Thane Lockhart (Oelrichs).
