PIERRE, S.D. – The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs scored early and often Sunday night as they downed the Pierre Trappers 14-3 in Expedition League baseball in front of 402 fans at Hyde Stadium. The Trappers had to play catch up from the get-go as Souris Valley scored 10 of their runs in the first four innings thanks to a 16 hit attack. Pierre starting and losing pitcher Conner McDonald allowed 10 runs on 12 hits but only 3 of the runs were earned as the Trapper defense committed 5 errors in the game. The Sabre Dogs had 3 home runs in the game and a total of 5 extra base hits. The Trappers were limited to 8 hits as Pierre native Landon Badger hit his second home run of the season in one of the Trappers bright spots in the game. That was one of only two extra base hits for Pierre in the game. The Trappers fell to 11 and 14 on the season and are back on the road tonight as they face Western Nebraska in a game in Gehring, Nebraska. It will be a two game series. The Trappers will wrap up the pre All Star Game portion of the schedule with a 3 game series with Casper on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Expedition League All Star game will be held next Monday in Hastings, Nebraska with 5 Trapper players selected to play for the Lewis Division All Stars.
