PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Trappers are the hottest team in the Expedition League as they won their 5th and 6th straight games on Sunday downing the Badlands Big Sticks in a doubleheader at Hyde Stadium. In the opener, the Trappers edges Badlands 4-2 and then down the Big Sticks 7-2 in the nightcap. In the first game, the Trappers scored 3 runs in the first inning and made it stand up behind strong pitching once again. Conner McDonald fired a 6 hitter in a complete game 7 inning performance. Teddy Peterson hit a two run home run for the Trappers and Jack Stamper had two hits and drove in his 35th run of the season. In the nightcap, the Trappers again jumped on Badlands scoring 3 runs in the first inning. Stephen Lund homered to lead the Trappers 8 hit attack. Cal Smith drove in a run for his team leading 43rd on the season. AJ Fell picked up the win on the mound going 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Jimmy Hardin came in to get the final two outs and earn the save. The Trappers improve to 23-21 as they host the Big Sticks again tonight in a 6:35 pm first pitch at Hyde Stadium.
