The Oahe Family YMCA in Pierre broke ground yesterday (Mon.) for phase 1 of a multi-phase expansion project.
Board president Becky Burke says membership at the YMCA has grown, so the facility needs more space.
CEO Aaron Fabel says phase 1 is more than just adding new walls and equipment.
Burke says she’s excited to see the Oahe Family YMCA grow.
Construction is scheduled to start July 23 and should be completed within a year. Fabel says the Oahe Family YMCA will self fund the phase 1 expansion, which has an estimated cost of a little over $800-thousand.
