MINOT, N.D. – The Lewis Division leading Souris Valley Sabre Dogs put a pair of 5 runs innings on the board and went on to down the Pierre Trappers 20-13 in Expedition League Baseball Wednesday night in Minot, N.D. In a game that scored more like a football game than a baseball game, the Trappers jumped on the Sabre Dogs with 3 first run innings but Souris Valley battled back with 5 runs in the home half of the inning and never relinquished the lead the rest of the way. Pierre outhit Souris Valley 16-15 in the game but the Trappers also committed 5 errors in the contest. Ken Scott and Tate Ellison both homered for the Trappers who had 8 extra base hits in the game. Seth Brewer started but only lasted into the third inning allowing 11 runs on 9 hits to take the loss. 5 Sabre Dogs homered and EJ Ranel had a total of 6 RBI’s in the game. With the loss, the Trappers fall to 27-26 on the season and remain a game and a half behind the Badlands Big Sticks for the second and final playoff spot in the Lewis Division. The Trappers and Sabre Dogs play again tonight in Minot.
