BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Agriculture Department is accepting applications from people in the organic industry who want help paying their certification costs.
State Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says the federal Organic Cost Share Program is providing $125,000 to the state.
Organic farmers, ranchers, processors and handlers can apply for reimbursement of up to $750 of the certification costs they paid between October 2017 and September of this year.
The money is doled out on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications are due by the end of October.
Certification enables producers to label and sell their organic products with a federal seal assuring they were produced with recognized organic methods.
