REFIELD, S.D. – Dakota Valley took control with an eight-run fifth inning on the way to a 12-2 rout of Dell Rapids in the South Dakota State Class B American Legion Baseball Tournament on Monday in Redfield. Tanner Hensley went 2-4 with a double and three RBI for Dakota Valley. The decision set up a three-team in today’s (Tuesday) final day for the tournament. Dakota Valley will face McCook-Miner at 1 p.m. A balk in the bottom of the seventh allowed the winning run to score from third base as McCook-Miner escaped Spearfish 8-7 in an elimination game. The winner of Dakota Valley and McCook-Miner will then face Dell Rapids for the winner take all state championship game later in the day.
