SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Pierre Trappers held on for a 10-8 Expedition League Baseball contest Wednesday night over the Spearfish Sasquatch in Spearfish. Spearfish scored 4 runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to make the game interesting but Jimmy Hardin came in to get the final out sending the Trappers to their 31st win of the season against 29 losses. The Trappers committed 5 errors in the game but out hit the Sasquatch 13-10 in the contest. Teddy Petersen led the way with 4 hits. Cal Smith, Jack Stamper, Seth Brewer and Tate Ellison each had two. Conner McDonald started and went 8.1 innings before running into the trouble in the ninth where the Trappers used 3 pitchers until Hardin got the final out to earn the save. The Trappers win, combined with the Badlands Big Sticks loss to Souris Valley leave the Trappers and Big Sticks tied for the second and final playoff spot in the Lewis Division standings with 3 games left to play in the season. The Trappers take today off and travel to Aberdeen tomorrow (Friday night) for a matchup with the Hub City Hot Shots.
