KIMBALL, S.D. – Sunday at the State VFW baseball tournament weather became an event all to itself. Onida was scheduled to play in Salem at noon. The game was moved to Canova and eventually to Kimball. Onida was defeated by Kimball White Lake 9-4. Blaine Duffel and Marshall Wittler combined on the mound. They gave up 9 runs on 7 hits, 5 earned and walked 11. Offensively Onida scattered their 6 hits through out the game really only threatening KWL in the top of 7 when they scored 3 runs and ended the inning with the bases loaded. Jack Darling, Garrett Petersen, and Jordan Schall led the offense. Onida finishes season with a 4th place finish at the State Tournament and a 17-11 overall season. The 4th place finish is the highest placing in the 4 years of the renewed baseball program in Onida.
