ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Pierre Trappers inaugural season in the Expedition League ended on Sunday as they downed the Hub City Hot Shots 10-6 in Aberdeen. The Trappers scored 3 runs in the 7th inning to break a 7-6 lead and provide the final score of the game and season. Tyler McDonald started for Pierre on the mound but allowed 6 runs on 10 hits over 5.1 innings. Alex Sheetz came to relieve and pitched a perfect 3.2 innings allowing 3 hits but keeping the Hot Shots off of the scoreboard. Jack Waletich homered for the Trappers and had 5 RBI’s on the final game of the season as the Trappers out hit their host 15-13 in the game. The win ended the Trappers season with a 32-31 record and third place in the Lewis Division. The Badlands Big Sticks clinched the second and final wildcard spot in the Lewis Division playoffs with their win over Souris Valley on Sunday. Next year the Expedition League is expected to grow with at least 4 more teams entering the league.
