PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governor tennis team opened the season on the short end of 4 duals in Harrisburg and Sioux Falls. The Lady Govs were beaten by Harrisburg 8-1 and Sioux Falls Lincoln 9-0 on Friday. On Saturday the Lady Govs were beaten by Sioux Falls Washington 7-2 and then wrapped up the weekend on the short end of an 8-1 scored against Sioux Falls Roosevelt. No. 1 singles Sabrina Kintz went 1 and 3 over the weekend for the Lady Govs. Her lone win was over Hanna Hatch of Harrisburg 4-6, 6-2, 10-5. Seventh grader Jocelyn Corrales won two of her four matches. Corrales beat Washington’s Lily Thom 10-5 and beat Roosevelt’s Emily Peichel 6-2, 6-2 on Saturday. The Lady Govs will have a busy weekend awaiting for them with a pair of duals on Thursday vs. Brandon Valley and Rapid City Christian in Rapid City. Then they will play in the Rapid City Invitational tournament on Friday and Saturday.
