PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governors remained unbeaten after 5 games of the South Dakota High School Soccer season as they rolled to a 7-1 win over Watertown Tuesday night at the Pierre Indian Learning Center Soccer Fields. Emily Mikkelsen scored a pair of goals for the Lady Govs in the second half as Pierre built a 3-0 halftime lead on a pair of goals from Caytee Williams and one by Janaina Zanin. Zanin added her second goal early in the second half and Alexis Campea had a goal for Pierre as the Lady Govs improved to 4-0-1 on the season.
The Governor boys team struggles offensively and defensively continued as Watertown shut out the Governors 8-0. The loss marked the 5th consecutive game that the Governors have not scored a goal despite getting 6 shots on goal. The Govs are 0-5-0 and towards the bottom of the standings in the South Dakota High School Soccer League. The Governors and Lady Governors return to action on Friday when they host Rapid City Stevens in games at the Pierre Indian Learning Center soccer fields. The girls varsity game will be at 4 pm and boys varsity contest at 6 pm. On Saturday, the Govs and Lady Govs will entertain Rapid City Central.
