The Pierre City Commission has given first reading to a $52.3 million budget plan for 2019.
City finance officer Twila Hight says commissioners have been working through the numbers during budget work sessions.
She says they used a different approach to budgeting this year than city officials have used in the past.
Hight says the proposed 2019 budget for the City of Pierre is a balanced budget.
The Pierre City Commission will approve the final 2019 budget at their Sept. 18 meeting.
