The 911 phone number may now be used again for emergencies, after an outage that lasted about an hour this (Tues.) morning.
The Pierre Police Department says a temporary fix is in place allowing 911 to ring into their routine business line. This allows the Central South Dakota Communications Center to receive all 911 calls from the area it serves.
The state Department of Public Safety says Century Link is working to fix the problem.
The cause of the outage is unknown at this time.
