PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governor volleyball team got off to a slow start and could not recover on Tuesday night as they dropped a 4 set match to Brookings in High School Volleyball at Riggs High Gym. The Lady Govs lost 25-15, 25-14, 16-25, 25-21 before a senior night crowd and the final home match of the season. Before the game the Lady Govs honored Abbit Kitts and Halle Gronlund, the two seniors on the team and then struggled in the first two matches before catching fire in the third and playing Brookings even in the 4th. Emery Heiss had 12 kills to lead the Lady Govs and KItts had 18 digs. Miah Kenholz had 2 blocks at the net for points. Hanna Jerome delivered 3 service aces but the Lady Govs struggled serving most of the night. Kailee Bartels had 15 kills to lead Brookings while Michela Jewitt had 36 assist and 24 digs and Kailee Bartels added 6 blocks at the net for points. With the loss, the Lady Governors fell to 8 and 11 on the season. They will close out the regular season campaign a week from Saturday when they travel to Huron to take on the Tigers. The Bobcats improved to 13-12 with the victory.
