A 21-year-old Pierre woman faces Driving Under the Influence and other charges after an accident just after midnight this (Wed.) morning.
The Pierre Police Department reports officers were called to the 1600 block of East Park Avenue for a hit and run traffic crash. When they arrived, they located an unoccupied vehicle crashed into a tree in the yard of a residence.
Officers made contact with the driver, Billie Shaw, who had the owner’s permission to drive the vehicle. Officers observed indicators of alcohol consumption when speaking with Shaw and began a DUI investigation.
Shaw was placed under arrest for DUI 2nd Offense, Driving Under Suspension, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Open Container in a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Use a Seatbelt.
Shaw was taken to the Hughes County Jail.
