A 49-year-old Eagle Butte, SD, man convicted of separate and unrelated Burglary and Larceny offenses has been sentenced in federal court.
Tommy Shaving was sentenced to 12 months and a day in federal prison followed by 2 years of supervised release on each offense. The terms are to be served concurrently (at the same time).
The burglary conviction stemmed from an incident in November 2017, when Shaving unlawfully entered the United Church of Christ in Eagle Butte and took three star quilts valued at $1,200.00.
The larceny conviction comes from two incidents in October 2017, when Shaving took blank checks from an individual. He cashed 16 unauthorized checks for a total amount of $1,035.00.
Shaving was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshals Service.
