A 15-year-old Pierre male was taken into custody early this (Tues.) morning after posting a threatening message on social media directed toward the Pierre School District.
Supt. Dr. Kelly Glodt says a vigilant member of the community alerted the police department after seeing the posted threat.
The juvenile male was taken into custody for making terrorist threats.
Glodt says safety of students and staff was the number one concern.
As to possible punishment for making the threat, Glodt couldn’t comment on specifics.
Glodt says it takes everyone being watchful to ensure a threat doesn’t turn into a bad situation in the schools.
An email sent to parents from the Pierre high school principal says the threatening post was a picture of a T.F. Riggs student with what appeared to be a real gun.
