The Pierre City Commission is considering changes to the City’s licensing practices for transportation companies.
City Finance Director Twila Hight says the proposed changes would modernize the Pierre’s current ordinance.
She says the wording used copies state law.
Under the recommended changes, impacted companies would be required to:
- annually pay a $150 business license fee
- provide proof of insurance
- maintain proper records of vehicle inspections and operators.
- make sure vehicles used by transportation companies are clearly labeled
- make sure drivers have appropriate company identification
The Pierre City Commission will hear the final reading of the proposed changes at its Jan. 2 meeting.
