BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Brookings Bobcats pulled away in the second half on the strength of 46 percent field goal shooting and 50 percent from 3-points range as they downed the Pierre Lady Governors 57-39 Thursday night in Brookings. Micheala Jewitt was a force leading Brookings with 26 points on the night. She was the only double figure scorer for the Bobcats. Emily Mikkelsen led the Lady Govs with 14 points and Mack Rath added 12 as the Lady Governors lost for the 3rd time in as many games.
PIERRE, S.D. – Brookings pulled away int he 4th quarter to record a 70-59 win over the Pierre Governors in the ESD Conference opener for the Govs Thursday night in Pierre. Brookings led most of the way but the Governors were within 5 points the entire night until the final 1:30 of the 4th when the Bobcast hit free throws down the stretch to improve to 2 and 3 on the season while the Governors fell to 2-1. Drew Cole led the way for the Bobcats with 19 points while Trevor Woodall added 18 to lead four Brookings double figure scorers. Garrett Stout led the Governors with a 30 effort and Jack Maher added 14.
