FORT WAYNE, Ind. — South Dakota State dropped a 104-88 contest at Purdue Fort Wayne Thursday night inside Memorial Coliseum. The Jackrabbits (11-6, 1-1 Summit League) shot 46.5 from the field and hit nine 3-pointers, but saw the Mastodons bury 17 3s, including nine in the second half to pull away down the stretch. Mike Daum led all scorers with 29 points, hitting 11-of-21 from the field alongside a seven-rebound performance. David Jenkins scored 21 points and hit four 3-pointers, while Tevin King (five assists) and Owen King (three assists) each added 10 in the scoring column. Purdue Fort Wayne’s Kason Harrell and John Konchar each had 23 points. South Dakota State closes its Summit League-opening road trip Sunday at in-state rival South Dakota. FORT WAYNE, Ind.-A team effort led the South Dakota State women’s basketball team in its 85-52 win Thursday over Purdue Fort Wayne in front of 529 fans at Memorial Coliseum. The Jackrabbits, 10-5 overall and 2-0 in The Summit League, were led by Madison Guebert with 16 points and four 3-pointers. Macy Miller added 15 points and three steals. Rylie Cascio Jensen chipped in a career-high 12 points on a personal-best four 3-pointers. Myah Selland had eight points, a team-high six rebounds and five assists. In all, nine Jackrabbits scored. Purdue Fort Wayne (4-11, 0-3) was led by Sierra Bell with 11 points and De’ Jour Young added 10 points. Former Pierre standout Sydney Palmer did not score for SDSU but did pull down 2 rebounds in 12 minutes of action off the bench. South Dakota State concludes its five-game road swing when it plays at South Dakota Sunday at 1 p.m. in a South Dakota Corn Showdown Series game.
DENVER, Colo.—Denver shot 62.5 percent from the floor to down South Dakota 104-99 inside Hamilton Coliseum on Thursday evening. Denver (9-7, 2-1 Summit) hands South Dakota (13-3, 1-1 Summit) its first loss in Summit League play since February of 2017. South Dakota sophomore guard and Onida native Chloe Lamb scored a career high 23 points and senior guard Allison Arens added a season best 22 points. Coyote junior guards Ciara Duffy and Madison McKeever also reached double-figures with 19 and 11 points, respectively. Denver was paced by junior guard Lauren Loven’s 32 points on 10-of-15 shooting. South Dakota returns home to host South Dakota State at 1 p.m. Sunday inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
