A scheduled court hearing in the battle between a Pierre lobbyist and the Speaker of the South Dakota State House was abruptly canceled this (Fri.) morning.
Federal Judge Roberto Lange was to hear motions in the matter of South Dakota Municipal League Executive Director Yvonne Taylor versus House Speaker Steven Haugaard at 10am, but the hearing was canceled and nothing further shows up on the court docket.
Taylor was banned indefinitely from the floor of the State House by Speaker Haugaard last week. Haugaard directed his Sergeant at Arms to keep Taylor off the House floor during times when other lobbyists and the general public had access.
Taylor responded with a lawsuit in federal court.
The dispute centered around unflattering comments Taylor wrote in a column published in the May 2018 Municipal League Newsletter.
Taylor was seen working as usual at the State Capitol on Thursday, but not observed on the House floor.
