SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — One game after surpassing the 1,000 point mark, Emily Mikkelsen scored a career high 34 points to propel the Pierre Lady Governors to their second straight win, as they outlasted Sioux Falls Roosevelt, 59-52 in overtime. Pierre held the lead for most of the game until a Macey Nielsen 3-pointer put the Rough Riders up late, but Mikkelsen responded with a lay-up with 11 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 48 and send it into overtime. Remington Price banked in a three to put the Lady Govs in front stay in the OT. Mikkelsen then sank four free throws to seal the win, but came up two points shy of Steph Paluch’s school record for points in a single game. Mack Rath added 12 points, and Mikkelsen also collected a game-high nine rebounds. Taliyah Hayes led the Roosevelt comeback in the second half and finished with 18 points. The Lady Govs will try to make it three straight with another road game at Yankton on Saturday afternoon.
