PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Athletic Coaches Association (PACA) has named Gage Gehring of the Governor Wrestling team and Caytee Williams of the Lady Gov basketball team as it’s Avera Riggs High Athlet3s of the Week for their performances last week. Gage came away with the Region 3A Championship at 195 lbs this past weekend. Gehring did so by beating Eden Arcoren (Todd County) 5-1, pinning Blake Fredericks (Mitchell) in 2:48, and pinning Brodie Holtquist (Milbank) 0:56. His efforts also helped his team win Region 3A Championship. Caytee has been a real spark for the JV team defensively and offensively. She not only provides energy for the JV but also is a key component to the varsity team. Gehring was nominated for the award by his head coach Shawn Lewis while Williams earned her nomination from her head coach Scott DeBoer.
