SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Oahe Capitals varsity boys hockey team will be the third seed in the upcoming State High School Varsity Hockey tournament in two weeks at the EXPO Center in Ft. Pierre. The Capitals ended their season on the short end of a 5-4 verdict to league champion Sioux Falls Flyers losing in overtime on Sunday. The Capitals built a 4-0 lead by scoring 3 first period goals and 1 to start the second period before Sioux Falls came roaring back with 4 unanswered goals to send the game into overtime before winning it in a shootout 5-4. Raef Briggs scored the first two goals for the Capitals and Elliot Leif and Jacob Moleseed added goals. Sioux Falls outshot the Capitals 35-25 in the contest. Oahe will open up state tournament play in two weekends.
