HURON, .S.D. – DeSmet opened up the State Class B Girls Basketball Tournament on Thursday with a 59-44 win over White River. Ryan Osthuis led the way with 15 points while Kristen Poppen added 14 and Autumn Wilkinson 10 for the Bulldogs who advance to the semi finals on Friday. White River was led by Caelyn Valandra-Prue with with a game high 18 points. Kaylee Wells added 13. The Tigers will play in the Consolation round of the tournament on Friday.

Corsica-Stickney ran away from Ipswich in the final game of the first day of the State Class B Girls Basketball Tournament with a 61-32 win over the Tigers. Corsica Stickney led by 9 at halftime at 29-20 and scored the first six points of the second half in the first 45 seconds of the third quarter and never looked back. Avery Broughton led 3 double figure scorers with 25 for Corsica-Stickney who will play DeSmet in the second semi final game on Friday. Abigail Grabowska had 11 for Ipseich which plays White River this afternoon in the consolation semi final round.
