A film produced by a Pierre native and shot mostly in the Pierre and Fort Pierre area will be showing one night only, tonight at the Mac Theater in Mobridge, starting at 7:00 P.M.
“Tater Tot & Patton” writer and director Andrew Kightlinger says the theme of the movie is grief and healing. He calls the movie “a love letter to South Dakota.”
Kightlinger says Mobridge plays a defining role in his original film making aspirations.
Starring in this movie is Jessica Rothe, who also stars in big hit movies such as La La Land, Forever My Girl, Happy Death Day and its sequel, Happy Death Day 2U.
Kightlinger met Rothe in film school before getting her to play the part.
Kightlinger, who now lives in Los Angeles, knew from the beginning he had to shoot in his home state of South Dakota, and South Dakota will be the only place to see this movie on the big screen.
Kightlinger will be at today’s showing of “Tater Tot and Patton” in Mobridge to answer questions from audience members following the movie.
The film began it’s one-week showing on last Friday in Sioux Falls, Mitchell, Spearfish, Huron and Brookings.
It starts showing this Friday in Aberdeen and Watertown for a week.
“Tater Tot and Patton” shows tonight only in Mobridge starting at 7:00 P.M.
Tickets are available at the door.
