In conjunction with the State AA Combined Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament in Rapid City, the SDHSAA is holding the 5th annual State Visual Arts Competition and Gallery at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
Thirty-six schools from across the state submitted over 300 student entries in 12 categories, including: Drawing, Drawing Colored, Painting (Oil and Acrylic), Painting (Watercolor), Photography, Print Making, 3-Dimensional, Crafts, Traditional Cultural Art, Multi-Media/Graphic Design, Mixed Media and Functional Ceramics.
All entries will be on display from 5pm MT today (March 15) through 4:30pm MT tomorrow. The gallery is free to the public and will be set-up in LaCroix Hall at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
Individual results will be announced during an awards ceremony on tomorrow at 3pm. Schools also compete for team awards during this competition. All team awards will be announced during halftime of the AA Championship Basketball game tomorrow night.
The gallery schedule is listed on the SDHSAA website. Results from the competition will be posted on the SDHSAA website as soon as possible following the announcement of the results on Saturday.
