A 55-year-old woman is dead after a two vehicle accident yesterday (Mon.) afternoon (1:44pm) one mile east of Blunt.
According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, a 2016 Jeep Compass was eastbound on U.S. Highway 14 when it drifted into the path of a westbound 2012 Kenworth W900 semi-truck tractor trailer. The two vehicles collided.
The female driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. The 59-year-old male driver of the semi-truck received minor injuries and was transferred by ambulance to the Pierre hospital.
Names of the people involved are not being released, pending notification of family members. The accident forced a short stretch of Highway 14 to be closed for about five hours.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
