Due to scheduled upgrades to the raw water supply system at the Big Bend power plant, water releases will be switched over to the spillway for a few days next week (May 7-10). During this time, the Old Fort Thompson and North Shore Beach recreation areas will be closed.
The forecasted releases for May 7 at Big Bend are approximately 43,000 cubic feet per second, meaning the spillway gates will be open approximately four to five feet.
Use of the spillway system at Big Bend could extend to May 13-30, depending on scheduled releases and power generation requirements.
