SIOUX FALLS, S.D. —The recipients of this year’s winners for the South Dakota Mr. and Miss Basketball awards were announced Sunday at the Hansen-Anderson Basketball luncheon at the Ramkota Inn. Tea Area’s Noah Freidel was named the state’s Mr. Basketball, while Harrisburg’s Jeniah Ugofsky earned the Miss Basketball Award. Freidel, the Class A player of the year, averaged 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and three assists per game, while also connecting on 54 percent of his shots to lead the Titans to a state championship. Ugofsky averaged 11.5 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game for Harrisburg. She also added 52 steals en route to winning Class AA player of the year honors. Freidel plans to play his college basketball at South Dakota State while Ugofsky has committed to USD. Miller’s Karst Hunter and Pierre’s Emily Mikkelsen were finalist for the awards.
