PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors will have a busy meeting when they meet in Pierre on Thursday. They will vote on whether or not to dissolve a COOP between Cheyenne Eagle Butte and Takini in boys and girls track and field and will consider a request from Rapid City Central for a one day waiver for the first allowable contest in boys and girls basketball. They are also expected to finalize a contract with South Dakota State to use Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium for the State High School football championships for one year while renovation work is being done inside the Dakotadome on the USD campus in Vermillion. They may also vote on doing away with the combined boys and girls basketball tournaments as was recommended by the basketball advisory committee and Athletic Directors. They are expected to make tennis a 2 Class sport and they will decide on the championship sites for State events during the 2022-23 school year among other things. The meeting gets underway at 8:30 am Thursday morning in the meeting chambers at the Acitivites Association Office on North Euclid in Pierre.
