PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion Baseball team won twice on Friday in the Border Battle at Hyde Stadium in Pierre. Pierre opened with a 9-5 win over the Mandan, N.D. Chiefs and then recorded a 8-0 win over the Bismarck, N.D. Governors. In the in over Mandan, Post 8 took advantage of 6 Mandan errors and put together 7 hits to pick up the win. Garrett Stout had 3 hits and Jack Van Camp had 2 hits and 3 RBI’s. Gray Zabel struck out 7 as he went the first four innings to pick up the win. In the 8-0 shutout over Bismarck in a game called after 5 innings, Micheal Lusk went the distance allowing 5 hits and stricking out 5. Lusk also led the way at the plate and Stout’s only hit in the game provided 3 RBI’s for Pierre which improved to 6-4 on the season. Pierre will host Bismarck at 2 pm and Mandan around 4 pm in games today in the Border Battle.
