PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Trappers swept an Expedition League doubleheader from the Spearfish Sasquatch Tuesday night in Pierre. The Trappers won by scores of 7-4 and 5-3 to put an end to a 4 game losing skid. In the opener the Trappers outhit the Sasquatch 8-5 in the contest scoring 6 times in the 6th inning to rally for the win. Tate Ellison hit his 4th home run of the season and Zane Phelps had his team leading 21st RBI on the year. Billy Moreland, Micheal Herrera and Ellison also had RBI’s for the Trappers. 3 pitchers for Pierre held the Sasquatch in check with Moreland pitching 2 thirds of an inning of scoreless relief picked up the save. In the nightcap, the Trappers broke a 3-3 tie scoring twice in the 6th inning. Pierre had 3 extra base hits in the game and Joey Carterman went the distance on the mound allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and striking out 3 while not issuing a walk. With the sweep the Trappers improve to 13-16 on the season while the Sasquatch fell to 18-10 on the year. Pierre is off tonight.
