PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 Junior Legion baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to the Rapid City Post 320 Shooters on Wednesday night in Pierre. Pierre dropped a 5-2 contest in the opener and then suffered an 8-5 setback in the nightcap as their losing streak reached 9 straight. In the opener, both teams had 5 hits but Pierre committed 4 errors in the game as the Post 320 Shooters scored 3 runs in the 6th inning to open up a tight game for the victory. Isaack Polak and Colin Brueggeman combined for 5 2/3 innings on the hill limited Post 320 to 5 hits in the game. In the nightcap, Post 320 outhit Pierre 12-6 in the game with Eric Leif and Justin Houlette combining for 6 innings of work on the mound but a 5 run 4th inning put Post 8’s JV’s in a hole they could not dig out of. With the losses, Pierre’s record falls to 5-13 as they travel to Sioux Falls to compete in a weekend tournament. They will face Yankton at noon tomorrow (Friday) and the Millard Sox on Saturday.
